Why seats are replaced as a set

Beams age as a unit. If one seat has gone chalky and stiff the other is a season behind it, and the chains are the same age as both. These bundles exist for that moment: a matched pair of seats with matched chains, or a pair plus a ring-and-trapeze bar or a stand-up swing, so the whole beam comes back at the same time and in the same colour.
