Wood not included, and why that is cheaper

If you have a timber yard nearby, a saw and a weekend, a hardware kit is the cheapest route to a real play set. The kit carries the brackets, the fasteners, the swing hangers and a full set of illustrated plans with a cut list. You buy the lumber locally, cut to the list, and bolt the frame together with the same steel that goes into our complete sets.

What is in the box and what is not

Some kits include a slide, some do not — the page says which. What none of them include is wood, which keeps shipping sane and lets you choose between treated softwood and cedar yourself.

Pick by the space you have

Small yards

A compact A-frame with two swings and a wave slide fits a 20 by 20 foot safety zone and still gives kids a real ride.

Swings

Room to spread out

Towers with monkey bars, a climbing wall and two slides want about 30 by 30 feet of clear, level ground.

Swing Sets

Already have a frame

Swap tired seats, add a glider or bolt on a tube slide — the hardware is sized to the beams you already own.

Questions about this shelf

What lumber do I need to buy?

The cut list in the plans gives exact dimensions and quantities. Treated softwood and cedar both work; pick by budget and by how the finished set should weather.
